Magical Springs

As part of the activities in response to the Tuyen Quang Tourism Year, on April 28, the Management Board of tourist resorts organized a program to launch a typical tourism product with the theme: My Lam Hot Mineral - Magical Spring.

A Gift from the Ground 

About 12 km from the center of Tuyen Quang city, there is a source of hot mineral water that has been passed down by people as a "miracle drug" that has existed for hundreds of years, belonging to Nuoc Hot village (now group 6, My Lam ward, Tuyen Quang city).

At dawn, we were in Nuoc Rong village, the first person we met was Mr. Dang Van Chi. Mr. Chi's family has 4 to 5 generations here, belonging to the oldest households in Nuoc Rong village. Mr. Chi is 60 years old this year, but still maintains a healthy and supple physique, in addition to exercising regularly.

His family also uses hot mineral water in their daily activities. Mr. Chi said: In the past years, patients from all over the world came here to get medicine and stay in the village, every day they came to the mineral water to bathe for the purpose of healing. And you, perhaps, thanks to this mineral water, my body has never been sick—he wittily said.

Miraculous Water Source 

The use of healing the disease of the miraculous water like the people in My Lam spread to each other is true. When the villagers saw each delegation of scientists, many geological units and the health sector came to survey and evaluate the mineral water source. Some time later, there was an event to build a nursing facility to treat patients with hot mineral water. Elderly people in the mineral spring area said that this underground water source was discovered by French geologist C. Madrolle in 1923.  By 1965, Bach Mai Hospital built a small nursing facility here with a scale of 30 beds.

In 1974, My Lam Nursing Institute was established under the Ministry of Health with a scale of 200 beds. In 1983, the Ministry of Health issued a Decision to transfer My Lam Mineral Spring Sanatorium to Ha Tuyen province for management. In 1984, My Lam Mineral Spring Nursing Institute merged with Tuyen Quang Nursing Hospital to become My Lam Mineral Spring Nursing Hospital. 

Currently, the hospital is being newly built in Group 4, My Lam Ward with a total area of about 3.5 hectares, with a scale of 200 inpatient beds complete in terms of infrastructure and investment in modern medical equipment. This will be a specific hospital, with the task of using modern and traditional medical methods combined with mineral sludge and natural mineral water to protect, care for and improve the health of patients. 

According to the results of the analysis of the General Department of Geology in May 1983, it was concluded that the name is Silicon Hot Water, Sufuahydro, rich in Fluoride with: PH=8.1, H2S=5mg/l, H2SI03=130mg/l, Fluor=11.6mg/l; Temperature: 610C; Clean water meets microbiological standards; The water is not radiotoxic.

The story begins with Ms. Ha Thuy Ta's family, Suoi Mineral village (now group 5, My Lam ward). Ms. Ta is an officer of Suoi Mineral Hospital, so she knows very well about the "miracle drug" effect of mineral water and soon realized the development potential for this type of service. In 2008, Ms. Ta's family along with 2 other households in the village, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Quy and Bui Viet Bac, were the first to open a hot mineral bath service.

At that time, Ms. Ta's family had built 13 bathrooms and 5 guest rooms, the rooms were all paved with flower tiles, installed a shower system... with a ticket price of 25,000 VND/time. Visitors to the bath were enthusiastically instructed by her about the effects of hot mineral water, how to soak in the bathtub to be able to receive the healing properties from the nutrients of mineral water...

The good news is far away, many tourists in the region and neighboring areas come to her family to experience the increasing number of hot mineral water sources. She said: "When it first opened, there were a lot of visitors coming to bathe, every day my family welcomed dozens and then hundreds of people to take a bath. At that time, my mineral bath establishment had 8 or 9 service staff, with a salary of 3 million VND/month. In the early years, there was a month when my family earned 30 million/month, equivalent to about 2 gold trees."

Since Ms. Ta's hot mineral bath came into operation, many other families here have also built accommodation facilities to welcome guests. From a little-known place, up to now, My Lam Mineral Spring Area has been located in the most popular tourist destination of tourists on the journey to discover the land of Tuyen.

Up to now, there are many businesses investing in the tourist area that have eaten and made from miraculous water. They are Ngoc Ha Tourism Company, Ha Phu Tourism and Service Company, My Lam Mineral Spring Service Center, A Chau Restaurant Hotel, Vocational Training Institution of the Central Vietnam Farmers Association, My Lam Bottled Mineral Water Facility and many other households providing tourism services...

In order to bring tourism development to a new level, the province has planned My Lam Mineral Spring Tourist Area on 1,000 hectares and invited strategic investors such as VinGroup to invest, with phased items such as: building Vinpearl resort, new resort urban area and hot mineral water therapy medical examination and treatment service areas, etc  the high-class shophouse, which is gradually being completed... has created a change, contributing to bringing a new look to My Lam Mineral Spring Tourist Area.
